How to Fix the Crackle When Recording With Debut
Debut is a free video recording program for a home computer. It is capable of recording video and audio input on your computer from a number of sources, as well as converting the captured content into different file types. If your preferences are not set to buffer the audio correctly, you may experience crackling sounds in your audio output.

1
Open Debut, click the "File" menu and open "Settings." Here you'll find an array of audio and video settings that allow you to configure Debut to your needs and specifications. Click the "Audio" tab.
-
2
Locate an option called "Sample Rate." This is how quickly your computer samples and processes new audio while you're recording. The lower the number, the less chance there will be crackling, but the lower the overall sound quality. The opposite is true for a higher number.

3
Lower the number in the box and experiment with recordings to see if this eliminates the crackling. Once you've found a number that allows recording without crackles, raise the number little by little, making test recordings along the way, until it crackles again.
-
4
Set it to the last number that did not crackle, click "Apply Changes" and click "OK."

Tips & Warnings
Restarting your computer before beginning any recording will empty the Random Access Memory, freeing up valuable memory for your project and lowering the chance of crackling.
