1
Paint your nails with a base coat. Apply a thin layer in three strokes with the brush. This will help the polish go on more smoothly and will make it last longer.
-
2
Apply nail guides or masking tape to section off the tips of the nails. Pre-cut nail guides are easiest, but you can also cut sections of masking tape to make your own. Apply them so that only the tips of the nails are showing.

3
Paint only the tips with red glitter nail polish. Apply the polish carefully, with horizontal strokes. If you make errors, they should be acceptable as you will be taking off the nail guides. Brush on two coats and let it dry.

4
Pull off the nail guides or masking tape. Do so gently and try not to mess up the polish.
-
5
Paint hearts on the base of the fingernails, underneath the nail tip. Use red, non-glitter nail polish to paint the hearts. To create one heart on each nail, paint two dots right next to each other. Use the nail polish brush to drag down one dot and then the other. This creates hearts.

6
Paint a long-wearing top coat over the nails. This will protect the nail art, as polish does not last as long on natural nails. Brush it on using three strokes, one in the middle and one on each side.
