Use the home oven to make adorable curly hair bows.

Make curly korker hair bows by baking the ribbons for the hair accessories in the oven. You can customize the hair bows to any size you like and attach the curly ribbons to a metal hair clip, plastic barrette or even a stretchy hair elastic. Make bright and colorful hair bows by using different colored and patterned ribbons or make a hair bow in just one color to match a favorite outfit.

Instructions

    • 1

Preheat the oven to 275 degrees Fahrenheit.

    • 2

Cut the 3/8-inch-wide ribbon into pieces for the hair bow. Make each piece about 10 inches long for small korker hair bows or 18 inches long for large hair bows. Cut about 30 pieces to make one hair bow.

    • 3

Wind each piece of ribbon around a 1/4-inch-wide heat-resistant wooden dowel. Pin the ends of the ribbon to the dowel with heat-resistant clips or clothespins. Each piece of 10-inch-long ribbon should be about 3 inches long when wrapped around the dowel. Each piece of 18-inch-long ribbon should be about 5 inches long.

    • 4

Put the dowels on a baking sheet and bake for about 25 to 30 minutes at 275 degrees Fahrenheit. Take the dowels out of the oven and let the ribbons cool completely.

    • 5

Unwind the ribbons from the wooden dowels by removing the pins and gently pulling the ribbons off the dowels.

    • 6

Cut a 10-inch-long piece of elastic cord. Lay it on your work surface. Gather the ribbons into a pile, align the ends and place the ribbons on the center of the elastic cord. Tie the cord around the ribbons and pull tightly to make the ribbons fan out into a circular bow. Tie the cord ends in a tight knot and cut off the excess cord.

    • 7

Spread some hot glue on the top of your hair clip, barrette or hair elastic and press the korker bow on the hair clip. Hold the bow tightly against the clip for about 30 seconds.
