How to Arrange Cupcakes to Make an Owl Shape
While a cake can make a special occasion feel even more special, cupcakes are often preferable to cake. Cupcakes prevent the necessity of slicing and cutting, allowing for plenty of easy single servings. In a society of increased weight watching, cupcakes allow everyone to have a bit of sweetness after the main meal without forgetting their weight loss goals. Additionally, because cupcakes are small and self-standing, you can easily manipulate them into a range of shapes, stacking them into towers, arranging dozens of cupcakes into one larger flower shape, or any formation you so choose, even an owl. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Visit websites like National Geographic or Wildlife Search (see Resources) and look at pictures of various types of owls. Once you find a picture you like save it to you computer.
-
2
Open the image file and print it out. Copy the image on a photocopier, enlarging it to at least four or five times the size.
-
-
3
Place the enlarged picture of your owl on a flat surface such as a table where you want your owl arrangement to be.
-
4
Arrange cupcakes in a circular shape, following the lines of the head. In the center of the circle, place two cupcakes to act as perfectly round eyes.
-
5
Peel the wrapper off one cupcake, and trim it with a knife so that it has a triangular shape. Place this cupcake beneath the eyes, to represent the beak of the owl.
-
6
Place remaining cupcakes along the rounded lines of the owl's body. Fill in this bordered outline with cupcakes.
-
7
Outline the edges of the owl's wing span with miniature cupcakes. Create columns of miniature cupcakes inside the outline of the owl's wings that you just made. This will account for the natural feather texture of the wings.
