    The Trick

  1. Step 1

Tie four loose overhand knots in a piece of rope, working from left to right.

  2. Step 2

Be consistent about the knots; they should all be identical.

  3. Step 3

Pick up the rope and tug on the ends while saying, "Go!"

  4. Step 4

Notice that the knots have disappeared.

  5. How It's Done

  6. Step 1

Leave the loops large enough to put the four fingers of your left hand through them.

  7. Step 2

Begin with the knot on the left end and put a knot on each of your fingers. Be careful to keep the knots facing the same direction.

  8. Step 3

Tuck the right end of the rope between your left fingers.

  9. Step 4

Take the left end of the rope with your right hand (closest to the thumb) and pull the knots off your hand while saying, "Go!"

  10. Step 5

Notice that the knots come undone.

on 5/21/2008 I feel like a fool when doing the trick. The knots just tighten up!

Should the lefthand be palm upwards when the knots are placed on them? The firts knot goes on the index finger and the last on the pinkie with the x of each knot down towards the palm. How do one "pull the knot off your hand"? Pulling just results in the knots tightening up.
