Once you've removed the alcohol from a bottle you'd like to reuse, you must wash it to remove the smell. How easily the smell disappears depends on the bottle. Decorative or specialty bottles may contain small nooks and pockets where alcohol could stick. Depending on how much time has passed since the alcohol filled the bottle, the residue may have dried, making it more difficult to remove. Fortunately, alcohol comes off the surface with some scrubbing.
Step 1
Pour three to four drops of liquid dish soap into a sink. Fill the sink half full of hot water.

Dump out any remaining alcohol down a free drain. Leave the bottle open.
Step 3
Place the bottle inside the soapy water. Push the bottle down so the water can fill it.
Step 4
Soak the bottle in the soapy water for one hour. Scrub the inside and outside of the bottle with a bottle brush.
Step 5
Remove the bottle from the soapy water. Rinse both the inside and outside of the bottle.
Step 6
Set the bottle out to dry.
