How to Connect a Vacuum to a Drywall Sander
Drywall construction is a messy job. It can also be dangerous to inhale the many fine dust particles in the air if you're not wearing a respirator. Drywalling, however, is often necessary if you want to put interior walls up in your house since there aren't many other options available. The next time you need to do renovations, there's no need to worry and put off doing the big job -- just connect a vacuum hose to your drywall sander. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Drywall sander
- Vacuum cleaner
- Hose with swivel connector
- 6 hook-and-loop straps

Install a specially designed drywall dust filter bag into your vacuum cleaner.

Open the drywall sander's hose connector.

Push the vacuum hose swivel connector into the drywall sander's hose connector. Seat the connectors firmly and tighten.

Lay the sander's cord and vacuum hose parallel along the floor. Starting two feet from the sander, wrap a hook-and-loop strap around the cord and hose. Snap the cord shut. Continue to place straps along the cord and hose every two feet. This prevents the sander cord and vacuum hose from tangling.

Connect the vacuum hose to your vacuum cleaner.

Tips & Warnings
Not using a specially designed drywall dust bag increases the amount of airborne dust particles in the room. Prolonged exposure to a high level of dust particles can impair respiratory system function.
When sanding, always wear a respirator approved for "Dust and Mist."
