How Do I Reconstruct a RAR ISO?

ISO image files are typically very large, because they contain the contents of an entire CD or DVD. Therefore, these files are frequently make available in RAR format, which compresses them into multiple parts, ending with RAR, R00, R01, etc, or PART01.RAR, PART02.RAR, PART03.RAR, etc. Although WinRAR is the only Windows program that can create RAR files, several programs can reconstruct them. Doing so extracts the single ISO file from the archive parts.

Instructions

    • 1

Download and install a RAR extractor, such as WinRAR, 7-Zip or PowerArchiver. Installation differs slightly between programs, but you essentially run the installer and follow the onscreen prompts. Keeping the default settings by clicking "Next" until installation is complete and enables a shell interface, which allows you to access the program through Windows Explorer.

    • 2

Hold the "Windows" key and press "E" to open Windows Explorer.

    • 3

Locate the RAR parts. Make sure all the RAR parts reside in the same folder.

    • 4

Right-click the file ending in "PART01.RAR" or "RAR" and select "Extract Here" from the context menu. In 7-Zip, this option exists under the sub-menu "7-Zip," but WinRAR and PowerArcher have it in the initial context menu. The ISO file is then reconstructed in the same folder as the RAR files.
