How to Change to AOL's Free Service
AOL offers free and paid accounts. If you have an AOL paid account, you can cancel your paid services and downgrade or change your account to AOL's free service. AOL's free service allows you to continue to use your AOL email account, your AIM instant message account and other free AOL services offered on AOL.com.

Go to the AOL My Account homepage.

Enter your AOL username and password. Click the blue "Sign In" button.

Enter the answer to the security question. Click the blue "Continue" button.

Click the "Manage My Subscriptions" link.

Click the "Cancel Billing" link.

Select the reason you want to cancel your paid AOL services from the drop-down menu. Click the orange "Cancel My Billing" button to change your AOL paid subscription to AOL's free service.
