How to Crochet a Tulip Purse
One of the best features of crochet is that you can use the same basic tools and stitches to create a variety of shapes without needing advanced knowledge of the craft. Use your crochet skills to make a purse shaped like a tulip; the flowery bag that results would be perfect for a little girl's wardrobe or to use as a change purse for an adult. You will need a basic knowledge of crochet stitches and techniques to crochet a tulip-shaped purse.
Things You'll Need
- Worsted weight yarn in green and another color
- Crochet hook size US G
- Scissors
- Embroidery needle

Make three chain stitches using worsted weight yarn in a flowery color and a size US H crochet hook. Make a single crochet in the second chain away from the hook and in the following chain.

Make one chain and turn your work; make two single crochets in each of the stitches from the previous row.

Make one chain and turn your work, then make a single crochet stitch in every stitch across the row.

Make one chain and turn your work; make two single crochets in the first stitch of the row, then one single crochet in each of the center stitches and two single crochets in the final stitch.

Repeat steps 3 and 4 two more times each so that you have a total of 10 stitches across the row.

Make one chain and turn your work; make a slip stitch in each of the first three stitches of the row, then single crochet in each of the next four stitches. Make one chain and turn; single crochet two together twice across this row. Make one chain and turn; single crochet two together.

Cut the working yarn, leaving a 4-inch tail. Make a slip stitch and pull this tail all the way through the stitch to secure it.

Repeat steps 1 through 7 to make a second tulip shape.

Thread an embroidery needle with a long strand of your tulip yarn. Hold the two tulip shapes together and use the embroidery needle and yarn to stitch them together around the sides and bottom. Wrap your stitches around the two layers and then pull the needle through the layers to secure them. Tie a knot in the end and weave the tail in through the stitches on the inside of the purse.

Make a slip stitch in the top side of the purse where you started sewing the tulips together. Use green yarn and your crochet hook to do this. Make 30 chain stitches and then attach the yarn with a slip stitch on the opposite side of the purse opening. Your purse strap is complete.

Tips & Warnings
To make a chain stitch, bring the yarn up and over the hook from back to front, catch the yarn in the hook and draw it through the loop on the hook.
To make a single crochet, insert your hook into the stitch indicated, yarn over and draw up a loop, then yarn over and draw through both loops on the hook.
To make a slip stitch, insert your hook into the stitch indicated, yarn over and draw through the stitch and the loop on your hook simultaneously.
To single crochet two together, insert your hook into the first stitch, yarn over and draw up a loop. Insert your hook into the next stitch, yarn over and draw up a loop. Yarn over and draw through all of the loops on the hook at once.
