How Do I Tie the End of a Beaded Bracelet That Preschoolers Made?
A string of paper, clay or bejeweled plastic beads is a major accomplishment for a jewelry maker who is a preschooler. The piece of art is a treasure for the little one who labors over it at a party, craft class or vacation bible school session. If the yarn or cording that holds the beads comes apart and the bracelet is ruined it is a catastrophic event. Tie the end of the bracelet with a secure knot to keep that little creative person happy.

Knot For Stringing Beads
-
1
Wrap the end of the yarn or cording around the area just above the top knuckle of your index finger several times. The more strands you wrap, the larger the knot will be.
-
2
Roll the circle of cording down toward the tip of the finger by rubbing your thumb against the side of it.
-
-
3
Hold the wad of wound cording between the tips of your thumb and index finger. Take note that a loop lies on the top of your index finger.
-
4
Push the wad down with your index or middle finger to create the tight knot. The loop disappears as you push down.
-
5
Encourage the preschool child to string the beads on top of the knot. If the beads fall off of the knotted end, tie a second knot over it. You can add glue to the knot and let it dry to harden it. When the bracelet is finished, repeat the knot on the other end near the beads.

6
Place the bracelet on a flat surface. Pull the beaded unit into a C-shape.
-
7
Cross a piece of the excess cording at one end over the other end forming an X.
-
8
Place the end from the left side over the X shape. Thread it under the right side of the loop just as you would when tying a shoelace. Repeat one to three times until a knot is formed to secure the bracelet ends together.
