Is There Any Way to Get Into an AOL Chat Room If You Have Another Internet Provider?
In order to access America Online (AOL) chat rooms you must have an AOL account, but you do not need to use AOL as your internet service provider. You'll only need to have a free email account and AOL instant messenger in order to access AOL's public chat rooms.

Go to AOL.com. Click "AIM" on the left hand side of the page. This will take you to the AOL Instant Messenger download page. Click the yellow "Download" button to download the program.

Install AOL Instant Messenger by double-clicking the icon for the AIM program that you just downloaded. A dialog box will appear, asking you to read and agree to the AIM Terms of Service. Click "I Agree."

Sign up for an AOL email account. The email account is free, and you'll need it so you can log on to AOL Instant Messenger to go into chat rooms.
