How to Reseat a Small Chair
Reseating small chairs can be done several ways. Weaving new webbing or cutting out a plywood seat are the most common ways to do it. Wood chairs can be stapled or attached with carpet tacks. Hammering nails into a wood chair is not recommended because the nail can split the wood. Webbing can be purchased at home improvement stores and some garden shops. Wood for a chair seat should be 1/4- to 1/2-inch plywood.

1
Measure the length of the chair seat from the back rung to the front rung. Add 2 inches to this measurement.
-
2
Cut as many strips of the webbing as it takes to make evenly spaced strips from the back of the seat to the front. The strips should be placed side by side.
-
-
3
Place the end of the webbing strip under the back rung and staple or tack it.
-
4
Bring it over the rung and forward to the same position on the front rung. Staple or tack that end under the rung. Continue doing this until the chair seat is covered.
-
5
Staple or tack a strip to one side rung beginning at the back. Take it over the rung and weave it over and under each strip already in place. Place strips under the first strip and over the next until the other side is reached.
-
6
Staple or tack each strip to the opposite side after it is woven through. Alternate the over and under actions by beginning one strip over the first and the next strip under the first. Continue this pattern until the chair is covered.
