Instructions

    • 1

Measure the height of the ghost-to-be. Double the height and have the fabric store cut 7 lengths of white tulle to that measurement. Find the widest width tulle you can get, typically 72 or 108 inches. If you want to be a more transparent ghost, cut only 4 or 5 lengths.

    • 2

Stack the lengths of tulle evenly on top of each other. Mark the center point along one of the long edges. This will be the top of the ghost's hood.

    • 3

Determine how large the hood should be by measuring the wearer's hood size. Place the end of a fabric measuring tape on the wearer's left shoulder, draw it over his head and down to the other shoulder. Write this measurement down, add three inches to the measurement and divide by two.

    • 4

From the center mark of the tulle, measure the length you just calculated and make a mark. Do the same on the opposite side of the center mark. Make an arc using pins, three to four inches apart.

    • 5

To create the tie of the hood, thread a yarn needle with about 3 yards of white ribbon or yarn. Weave this through all the layers of tulle, following your pinned arch. Leave a length of yarn or ribbon at each end to act as the ties. To give the appearance of a floating ghost, shred the ends of the cape.
