How to Embed Skype

Some users find Skype more convenient than a traditional phone.

If you use Skype as your primary source of communication for your business or organization, you may want your website readers to have direct access to your Skype number. Skype is a desktop application, so the Skype client itself cannot be embedded into your website. However, what you can do is embed a Skype button. If a reader is currently signed into Skype, clicking on a Skype button will allow him to instantly initiate a call.

Instructions

1. Go to Skype's "Get a Skype Button" page. Type your Skype log-in name into the designated text field.

2. Select the button next to the Skype button design of your choice. There are six designs available. Four of them are static designs. Two of them are animated designs that change to display your Skype status.

3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page. Select the button marked "Web HTML." Highlight all of the text within the "Copy & Paste This Code" field. Do not leave any stray characters behind. Copy the code to your clipboard.

4. Paste the Skype button code into the HTML page editor for your website. Open your website in a new browser tab to preview the look of your Skype button.
