How to Cut a Flared Wraparound Skirt
A wrap skirt is pulled around the hips one and one-half times and tied in place or otherwise fastened. While it is simple to make a wrap skirt out of rectangles of fabric, this can result in bunching above the hips and tightness below them as the fabric is stretched. Take the time to make a flared wrap skirt, which allows the fabric to flow more naturally and to sit more comfortably over your hips. A flared wrap skirt is constructed in exactly the same way as a normal wrap skirt, but the cutting differs.

1
Measure around your waist with a measuring tape.
-
2
Divide the size of your waist by two and multiply that amount by three. This is measurement A.
-
-
3
Add four inches to measurement A to get measurement B.
-
4
Determine how long you want the skirt to be. This is measurement C.
-
5
Cut three trapezoids of fabric using measurements A and B as the parallel sides and measurement C as the height of the figure. These three segments are sewn together on the slanted edges to make a wrap skirt.

Tips & Warnings
Leave the points of the trapezoids intact for a slightly jagged look to your hem, or round them off for a more even look.
