How to Fish With a Dipsy Diver

The Luhr Jensen Dipsy Diver lure is a specialized disc shaped device that flips and dips through the water. A special O-ring on the back allows you to control the amount of dip and sway, including the preferred direction of the dip. Dipsy Divers are simple devices and are easy to use. Set the amount of dip and sway you want, cast out and begin your retrieve to attract walleye, bass, bluegill and lake sport species.

Instructions

    • 1

Clip your lure or hook of choice to the front swivel clip on the Dipsy Diver. Tie the fishing line to the rear swivel on the Dipsy Diver.

    • 2

Figure the depth of the water in which you are fishing by consulting charts or a depth finder. Use average depth at which fish usually are found and determine the difference between the two. For example, if you are in 30 foot water and you know walleye are at 20 feet depth, you know to set the Dipsy to a depth of 20 feet.

    • 3

Cross reference the fish depth with the Dipsy Diver depth chart to get the adjustment setting for the O-ring. For example, if you want to troll at 20 feet below the surface, turn the O-ring to the 2 setting.

    • 4

Turn the O-ring to the setting either left or right as determined by the way you wish the Dipsy to sway. Look at the Dipsy gauge on the back of the device to make sure you have it set to the proper number.

    • 5

Cast out and begin the retrieve like a standard lure.
