Look for home decor items at garage sales or antique shops. Hidden treasures such as old fashioned handheld mirrors, hanging mirrors, crystal bowls and antique lamps await you. Place small decor pieces on your dresser and night stand. Find matching lamps to go on your night stands on both sides of the bed.

Buy discounted paint. Look for colors that closely match your favored color, rather than having your heart set on a certain shade. For instance, buy pastel purple instead of medium plum, if the pastel shade has a lower price. Paint all the walls yourself to save money on labor.
