"Final Fantasy XIII": In Massif Contamination How Do I Pass the Red Wall?
"Final Fantasy XIII" has sixty-four Cie'th Stone missions you can accept from stones strewn about the Archylte Steppe. Each stone offers you a unique mission that usually involves tracking down and killing a specific monster. You do not need to complete every available mission, but some provide important plot details and powerful items otherwise missed. The third mission, "Massif Contamination," demands you track down and defeat Ugallu. If you follow the confusing default map to the mark, you will encounter a red barrier. The correct path, however, is not blocked.

Run back through the Steppe to where you first entered the field.

Head back down the path until it splits. Run up the north path.

Continue up the north path until you reach the Yaaschas Massif area. You will see the Save Point hovering off to the side.

Look for Ugallu on the path directly across from the Save Point. He is a large, four-legged creature with massive teeth and a silver mohawk.

Tips & Warnings
The red barriers on the Archylte Steppe will fall as you complete other Cie'th Stone missions. If you complete the missions in order, you will never encounter a red barrier that blocks you from your mark. Red barriers are linked to missions 12, 30 and 34.
