Having a low haircut with a fade will always be a classic look, but training your hair to produce waves brings a whole new texture and dimension to your hair style. When all of the short strands of hair are laying in the same direction, mimicking a wave-like pattern around the head, it's called waves. Though training your hair takes time and patience, when done correctly, you will be rewarded for all your hard work with deeply inset waves.

Shampoo and condition your hair. You will not be able to do this again for 1 to 2 weeks, so do this thoroughly.

Scoop a generous amount, about a silver-dollar size, of pomade and evenly rub it into your dry hair. Your hair will appear to have a white hue to it, like you put on too much, but it is just enough.

Take a hand towel and place it under hot water. Wring out the towel and lay it on your hair for one to three minutes, applying pressure evenly around your head. This will melt the pomade and help it soak into the hair.

Remove the towel and brush your hair evenly, taking care to brush with the grain. Your brush strokes should start at the crown and go all the way to the end of your hairline, going all around the hair.

Wrap your hair with a doo-rag. Do this before sleeping and during your leisure time.

Repeat steps two through five, one to two times a day.
