How to Wrap Yarn in Hair
Yarn wraps are frequently referred to as thread wraps as they work best using embroidery thread. The process is simple to learn to do yourself. Wrapping your hair is an easy process and takes about 30 minutes. It's a creative way to add a little pizazz and flair to your hair, and you can remove the thread wrap whenever you like. Thread wraps can be done in multiple colors and in different patterns. You can wrap multiple strands at once or have a single decorative tress. Does this Spark an idea?

Cut your index card in half. Take one of the halves and slit the middle, about an inch long. Select the section of hair you would like to wrap and insert it in the slit, pushing the index card up close against the head. This is to keep the other hair out of the way while you wrap.

Cut a length of embroidery thread that is approximately three times the length of your lock of hair. Fold the strand of thread in half. On one end, you should have a loop, and on the other end two loose strands.

Hold the loop end behind and to the left of the lock of hair, up near the head. Pull the loose strands through the loop. This will secure the thread around the top of the hair.

Wrap the thread around the lock of hair. Make sure no hair is showing in between wraps. When you reach the bottom of your strand of hair, tie a double knot. Cut off the extra thread, and remove the index card from the top. Your hair thread wrap is finished.

Try adding some beads to the bottom of your thread wrap.
