How to Configure Audacity on SSD
Audacity is a free audio editor available for Windows, Mac and Linux operating systems. You can install the Audacity software on a solid-state drive, or SSD, as you would install it on a regular hard disk drive. Audacity's configuration options allow you to change many audio features, whether you are editing audio or recording it. Access these configuration options through Audacity's menus.

Launch Audacity.

Click "Edit" and "Preferences."

Click "Devices" and select your audio devices from the drop-down list on this panel. You can configure different devices for your host, playback and recording settings. Click "OK" if you only make these changes, or click another section to continue setting your preferences.

Click "Playback" and adjust your playback settings by putting a number, in seconds, in the fields such as length of preview, preview before cut region and seek time when playing.

Click "Quality" and adjust the sample rate, same format, sample rate converter and dither for your audio track.

Click through to other sections in Audacity, such as "Projects," "Directories" and "Effects," to change these preferences with drop-down menus and selection boxes. Click "OK" once you are completely done setting your preferences.
