How to Make a Medusa Headdress

How to Make a Medusa Headdress thumbnail
Rubber snakes make for a realistic Medusa headdress.

If you want to dress up as Medusa for Halloween, a costume party or theatrical play, you can make your costume more believable if you wear a snake-covered Medusa headdress. Instead of buying a plastic Medusa headdress from a costume supply store, make a more realistic headdress using rubber snakes that can be purchased from a toy store. This enables you to look as though you have a head full of real snakes, just like Medusa.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Insert a hot glue stick into a hot glue gun. Plug the hot glue gun into a wall outlet for 10 minutes to heat up.

    • 2

Stretch a stocking cap over a foam mannequin head.

    • 3

Squeeze a dime-sized dollop of hot glue onto the stocking cap, then press the middle of a rubber snake onto the hot glue. Hold the snake in place for 1 minute to let the hot glue harden.

    • 4

Squeeze a second dime-sized hot glue dollop next to the first one, and press the middle of a second rubber snake onto the hot glue dollop. Hold the snake in place for 1 minute, as before.

    • 5

Repeat this process until the entire stocking cap is filled with dangling rubber snakes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use all green rubber snakes to create a Medusa headdress that is similar to movie versions of the Medusa myth.
