How to Make an Origami Knight Mask

Although not made of medal, an origami knight's helmet can still bring you honor.

On the smaller scale, an origami knight's helmet is a nice fit for an action figure or a doll; pretty much anything with a small head. Although these instructions explain a smaller knight's helmet, using a bigger piece of paper can help you make a life-size knight's helmet just for you. To add more character, you can glue tinfoil around the outside after the piece is completed to give your helmet a real shine.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your paper facedown (color side down) with the shorter edges at the top and bottom.

    • 2

Fold and unfold the paper vertically. Fold the paper horizontally and keep folded.

    • 3

Take the left corner and fold it into the middle, so it touches the vertical crease. Repeat this same step for the right corner.

    • 4

Fold the bottom edge up, only folding up the top layer. Unfold the flap made in Step 3 without unfolding the small horizontal flap you just made.

    • 5

Pull the remaining bottom edge back and upward, flattening the paper. Your paper shape should be a flat piece with a flap folded up at the bottom.Turn the paper shape around so that flap is now at the top.

    • 6

Take the left corner and fold it into the middle, so it touches the vertical crease. Repeat this same step for the right corner.

    • 7

Fold only the triangle shape backwards, leaving a square shape facing you. Fold in both top corners so that they touch on the vertical middle crease.

    • 8

Fold the bottom edge to the halfway point of the rectangle shape at the bottom. Fold upwards again so that the bottom edge is now touching the bottom of the triangle shape. Keeping the same width, fold upwards a third time revealing a small tail at the bottom.

    • 9

Take both the right and left edge of the bottom and pull them together backwards so that they touch. Lift up the back triangle edge and push up so it stands on its' own. Tape or glue bottom strap together to keep the knight's helmet intact.
