How to Avoid Nova Gas in "Nazi Zombies"
"Nazi Zombies" is a game mode available in "Call of Duty: Black Ops" for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. There are a variety of zombies to fight on each map, ranging from normal zombies with no special abilities, to zombies like the crawler zombie, a zombie with no eyes who runs on all four limbs. When you defeat the crawler zombie, he explodes, spreading green mist above his dead body. Not only can the initial explosion injure you, but the gas, called nova gas, damages you as well and blurs your vision. There are a few ways to avoid the nova gas that the crawler zombie produces.

Kill the crawler zombie from a distance of a few feet away with any gun. At this distance, you are not harmed by the explosion and the gas is too far away to come into contact with you. The gas disappears after a few seconds.

Use a knife or explosive weapon, such as a grenade or the ray gun, to destroy the crawler zombie. When he is destroyed by one of these weapons, he does not emit the harmful nova gas upon death, allowing you to avoid it altogether.

Shoot the crawler zombie when he is on the walls. When he is killed while walking on a wall, he does not emit the nova gas.

Tips & Warnings
If a crawler is destroyed near other zombies, those zombies take damage in the explosion but the nova gas does not affect them.
When using the knife, quickly move from the body before it explodes once the crawler is defeated.
