How to Ask for a Follow Up Date

Asking someone on a first date is intimidating and scary. Asking for another date is only slightly less so. Finding the right time and the right words to find out if someone likes you enough to see you again creates fear of rejection if you do not do everything just right. Asking for a follow-up date is simple if you have already laid the groundwork through the course of the first date.

Instructions

    • 1

Let her know that you are enjoying yourself. Do not go overboard, after all it is just a first date, but let her know that you enjoy her company. You can do this by complimenting her on something or by simply saying something like, "This is a lot of fun!"

    • 2

Watch for clues about how she feels about you. If she is smiling and laughing then asking for a second date is a good bet. If she spends the whole time staring down at her salad, you may not want to take the chance.

    • 3

Listen for her interests. If she mentions being a fan of a certain music group, a comment like, "They're in town in two weeks, maybe we can go together." Her reaction will tell you whether a second date is an option.

Just ask her. You can ask at the end of the first date, or call her within a couple of days. Simply let her know that you had a nice time and you would like the chance to continue getting to know her. This is a conversation better initiated by phone or in person. An email or text can seem too impersonal.
