How to Make a Yin Yang Symbol as a "Black Ops" Emblem

The yin yang symbol contains equal portions of light and dark. The symbol is sometimes rotated with the dark half occupying the top half.

The yin yang symbol represents the relationship of opposite forces in the Taoist belief system. The symbol contains equal parts of light and dark intertwined together. There are a few variations of the design, but the most common is the black and white taijitu symbol with the white area occupying the top and left areas of the circle. The emblem creator in "Call of Duty: Black Ops" does not have a prebuilt yin yang symbol. You need to create the symbol using basic shapes overlapping each other.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a black circle with a diameter equal to the entire square that forms the drawing area of the emblem creator. The circle should be centered, so the whole circle is visible and just touching all four sides. This circle forms of the outline of the symbol.

    • 2

Create a white circle slightly smaller than the black circle you made in Step 1. Center it. The current design should look like a white circle with a black outline drawn around it. The size of the outline does not matter too much, but the yin yang symbol might start to look awkward if the outline is too thick.

    • 3

Create a grey circle with exactly half the diameter of the white circle you made in Step 2. Center this circle horizontally. Drag it upwards until the edge of the grey circle is just touching the top edge of the white circle.

    • 4

Create a black circle with exactly half the diameter of the white circle you made in Step 2. Center this circle horizontally. Drag it downwards until the edge of this circle is just touching the bottom edge of the white circle. The top edge of this circle should also just be touching the bottom edge of the grey circle. If this is not the case, you made one of the circles too large or too small.

    • 5

Create four black ovals with the "wide oval" shape found in the emblem creator. Position these ovals around the right edge of the white circle. These ovals are used to color the right half of the circle black. You have a significant amount of leeway with positioning these ovals. Just ensure none of the ovals go past the outline created in Step 1. These ovals should overlap the two circles made in Step 3 and Step 4.

    • 6

Reselect the gray circle to move it back on top of the black ovals.

    • 7

Create a black circle a quarter of the diameter of the grey circle. Place it in the middle of the grey circle.

    • 8

Reselect the gray circle. Change the color of this circle to white.

    • 9

Create a white circle a quarter of the diameter of the circle made in Step 4. Place it in the middle of the black circle made in Step 4.

Tips & Warnings

  • Switch the colors in all of the steps to make the yin yang with the black area occupying the top section of the symbol.

  • The Romans used a slightly different version of the yin yang. The shaping is identical, but the colors tended to differ. You can use the same steps to create a Roman style yin yang symbol by changing the colors used. The outermost circle that forms an outline should be red. All of the white areas, except the dot on the bottom half of the symbol, should be orange or tan. All of the black areas, except the dot in the top half, should be dark blue. Both dots should be the same color red as the outline. The exact shades used do not matter too much, but darker shades were more commonly used.
