How to Customize My Facebook Page Background With a Mac
If you are a Mac user looking to add a bit of variety to your daily social media experience, you can try changing the background of your Facebook page. This can be done by adding an extension to your Web browser. Regardless of which browser you use, you should be able to find several that are able to change your background with a choice of available themes in each extension. Remember to update your extensions whenever you upgrade your browser software.

Safari

Launch Safari on your Mac. Click the "Safari" menu and select "Safari Extensions Gallery."

Click "Social Networking" on the left menu. Scan through the results. Click "More" to see additional information on any extension.

Select an extension that allows you to change the page background on Facebook by clicking the "Install Now" button. In this example we will use "BetterFacebook." Instructions can vary with different extensions.

Click the "Safari" menu and select "Quit."

Restart Safari by clicking on it in the Dock. Log into Facebook. A pop-up window appears with the Better Facebook Setup Wizard. Read each page and select the options you desire for additional tabs and installing a control panel until you get to Page 5 of the setup wizard.

Scroll through the available themes and click on the one you like best. It will automatically change the appearance of the Facebook page behind the wizard window. Click "Next" and continue reviewing the other available options with Better Facebook.

Uninstall the extension at any time by clicking the "Safari" menu, selecting "Preferences" and then clicking on the "Extensions" tab. Click "Uninstall" to remove the extension.
Firefox

Launch Firefox on your Mac. Click the "Tools" menu and select "Add-ons."

Type "Facebook" into the search filed and press "Enter." Browse through the available add-ons and select one that allows you to change the background colors. We will use "FaceTweak" as an example, although configuration can vary with different add-ons.

Click the "Install" button beside the add-on. Once the add-on has been downloaded to your computer, you will be asked to restart Firefox.

Click "Restart Now." Firefox will close all of your windows and tabs, then reopen them again.

Click the "Styles" tab in the pop-up window. Twenty styles are listed. Click "OK." A new window opens asking if you want to install additional add-ons. Select any you wish, or none. Click "Finish."

Go to Facebook. The new background is applied to your Facebook page.

Select "FaceTweak" options from the Firefox Tools menu at any time to change the style.

Remove the add-on at any time by clicking "Tools," then "Add Ons." Click "Extensions." You can then click "Disable" or "Remove."
Google Chrome

Launch Google Chrome and go to the Chrome Web Store by clicking the "Wrench" icon in the top right corner of the window. Select "Tools," then "Extensions," and then click the "Browse the Gallery" link. Type "Facebook background" into the search field to find a Facebook extension.

Click "All" in the Extensions section of the search results and click a free extension like "facetti." Click the "Install" button on the resulting page.

Log into Facebook and click the new "facetti" button beside the "Account" button on the top right corner of your home page. Select one of the dozens of themes available by clicking on the preview. Themes are grouped in categories including "Animals," "Causes," "Music," and many others.
