Instructions

1
Spread two pieces of 12-inch square cheesecloth on a large, flat surface. Place another layer of cheesecloth over each one, creating two 12-inch double thick squares of cheesecloth.
-
2
Pour 1 10-oz. bag of dark roast coffee or espresso onto the center of each cloth.
-
-
3
Pull the corners and edges of each cloth up and over the coffee, forming a pouch. Close the pouches by cinching a rubber band across the gathered corners of both bundles.
-
4
Place the coffee pouches in the bottom of a 5-gallon bucket. Add 2 1/2 gallons of steaming water to the bucket. Allow the coffee mixture to steep for 20 minutes.
-
5
Agitate the coffee mixture with a wooden paint-stirring stick. Slowly submerge the jeans in the liquid, pressing down with the stick to dislodge any air bubbles. Allow the jeans to soak for 24 hours.
-
6
Remove the jeans from the mixture, and allow them to air dry thoroughly.
-
7
Wash the jeans in a washing machine. Set the water temperature to cold and the fabric setting to delicate. Place the jeans in a dryer and allow them to tumble dry on a low heat setting.
