How to Get a Layout for Tumblr
In contrast to more professionally-driven blogging platforms, such as WordPress or Moveable Type, Tumblr is known for an interface that lets anybody create a blog regardless of Web developing experience. Tumblr provides a variety of free and premium paid layouts, more commonly referred to as themes, to help you find the right style to fit your blog. You can access Tumblr themes through the Theme Garden on Tumblr or by locating the theme link at the bottom of any Tumblr blog.

Navigate to Tumblr.com/themes to view available free and premium themes in the Theme Garden.

Click the "Featured" tab to view free themes featured by the Tumblr staff. Click the "Popular" tab to view the most used themes. Click the "Premium" tab to view paid themes available for purchase.

Click the "Preview" button in the bottom-right corner of the theme image to see a preview of what your blog looks like with the theme.

Click the "Install" button to install a theme and apply it to your blog. Click "Install" a second time to confirm you really want to install the theme.

Tips & Warnings
To get a theme from a user's Tumblr blog, navigate to the blog and scroll all of the way to the bottom of the page. Look for the theme link or author and click it to go to the theme's page. Once on the theme page, click the "Install" button.
