Instantly get video games on your computer through the Steam service.

Steam is a gaming platform that allows users access to over 1,000 video games on their PC. However, in order to play these games, users will need to purchase them. One way to circumvent this requirement is by downloading a patch called the UnDead patch. This allows users access to many of the games on Steam for free. But, if a user purchases a game, or the Steam platform gets updated, some of the purchased games may get accidentally deleted. If you've installed the patch, but you're afraid of losing purchased games, it may be best to remove it.

Instructions

    • 1

Log out of your steam account and close the software application.

    • 2

Click "Start," followed by "Computer" to open a browser window. Double-click the hard drive icon to open another browser window.

    • 3

Scroll down until you find the "Program Files (x86)" folder, then double-click it to open it.

    • 4

Double-click the "Steam" folder to open its contents in a new window.

    • 5

Right-click the "steam.cfg" file and select "Delete." Click "Yes" when a pop-up dialog box appears, asking if you're sure you want to send the file to the recycle bin.

    • 6

Restart the Steam application, and wait for it to automatically update. Your UnDead patch is now removed.
