How to Make Fire on Pivot

Fire adds dramatic tension, the possibility of destruction and a unique visual effect to an animation. Often, fire symbolizes masculine power, the desert, the brilliant power of the sun or rebirth. If you wish to add the elements of fire to your Pivot animation, create a stick figure flame and adjust its position to simulate the dancing movement pattern of flames. For a more realistic fire animation, add black smoke, embers or fleeing people.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Pivot Stickfigure Animator. Click on the "File" menu and scroll to "Create Figure Type."

    • 2

Press the "Line Segment" button. Place your cursor on the top of the current line, over the red dot. Left-click and drag the mouse upwards and towards the left. Release the left button to create a short line.

    • 3

Click on the "Line Segment" button. Place your cursor over the tip of the line, left-click and drag the cursor downwards and towards the right. Release the mouse when you create a short line. This creates one of the fire's edges.

    • 4

Draw two or three more edges to create a left to right curve.

    • 5

Add the tip of the fire. Add a line segment that extends upwards at a slight angle. At the tip of the line, draw another line that extends downwards and towards the right.

    • 6

Draw new line segments until you complete the right side of the fire. Connect the two edges with three to five horizontal line segments.

    • 7

Click on the "File" button and scroll to "Save As". Enter the name "Flame" and press "Save." Click on the "File" button and scroll to "Add to Animation."

    • 8

Drag the fire icon into the bottom corner of the page. Click on the button that reads "Color" and click on an orange or red color swatch.

    • 9

Add extra flames, if desired. Click on the "Add Figure" button, then adjust the color of the new frame. Repeat the process until the fire spans the entire width of the canvas, if desired.

    • 10

Press the "Next Frame" button. Highlight a flame figure and press the "Flip" button. Repeat the process for each of the flames.

    • 11

Add extra frames, as desired. In each frame, flip the flames to create the appearance of movement.

    • 12

Save the animation. Click on the "File" button, scroll to "Save Animation" and enter a name. Click on the "Save as Type" drop-down menu and scroll to "GIF." Press "Save."
