How to Install Bulldog
The Bulldog power jack is an electric jack that can be installed at the front tongue of a recreational vehicle or trailer. This allows you to raise the front of the trailer to attach it to a tow vehicle. The average user can accomplish this installation with hand tools.
Things You'll Need
- Bulldog electric jack kit
- Hydraulic jack and jack stands
- Socket set with ratchet and extensions

1
Park your trailer on level ground. Use a hydraulic jack to place the front end of the trailer on jack stands, releasing all tension on the factory manual jack.
-
2
Remove any accessories that are at the front of the trailer near or on the factory manual jack, such as a battery box.
-
-
3
Unbolt the factory manual jack from the trailer tongue. Typically three large bolts secure the manual jack; remove them, then pull the factory jack directly up and remove it. Save the mounting bolts and nuts.
-
4
Insert the Bulldog power jack into the factory jack location. Line up the bolt holes and use the factory mounting hardware to install the power jack. Reinstall the battery or any accessories that were installed on the factory jack.
-
5
Run the power line to a power source. Typically on a RV this will be the main battery mounted in the front of the trailer, because it sits only a foot or two from the power jack. Connect the red power line to the red/positive terminal on the battery. Run the black/negative wire to a ground location, which will either be the current ground for your battery or an all-metal bolt that is connected to the metal body of the vehicle (such as a metal bolt holding down the metal container box).

6
Slide the jack foot into the bottom of the power jack, and insert a pin to lock the jack foot. Test the power jack operation, then set the jack and remove the jack stands.
