How to Hook Up My Boss CX120DC

Expand the sonic capabilities of your guitar by hooking up a Boss effects pedal.

The Boss CX120DC is an effects pedal commonly used with an electric guitar to produce a variety of tonal changes in the instrument's sound. The electronic component hooks up to a guitar and outputs the signal to an amplifier for sound reproduction. You can connect the unit with the supplied AC adapter to a standard electrical outlet or install a 9-volt transistor battery for portability. The Boss effects pedal hooks up in minutes without any special tools.

Things You'll Need

• Amplifier
• 9-volt battery
• Electric guitar
• 1/4-inch audio cables

Instructions

1. Toggle the amplifier's power switch to the "Off" position.

2. Slide the battery cover off the back of the Boss effects pedal to install a 9-volt battery if desired. Otherwise, plug in the AC power adapter to the electrical jack on the effects pedal, and connect the other end to an electrical outlet.

3. Connect one of the audio cables from the jack on the front of your guitar body to the "Input" jack on the right edge of the Boss pedal.

4. Hook up the second audio cable from the "Output A" jack on the left edge of the effects pedal to the input jack on the front of your amplifier.
