Offer to help her with items she can't carry herself.

Being a gentleman goes beyond using the proper fork; it encompasses your behavior and attitude toward others. Women of all ages appreciate a man who attempts some semblance of mannerly behavior, particularly toward her and her loved ones. Being a gentleman doesn't require hours of etiquette classes or role playing scenarios, but rather self awareness and holding yourself to a higher standard.

Instructions

    • 1

Offer a woman assistance. Be aware of tasks she's struggling to complete by herself, such as lifting heavy furniture or changing a water cooler. Women are independent and won't necessarily ask for your assistance, but that doesn't mean she won't accept and appreciate it.

    • 2

Listen to what she says with genuine interest. Listening and processing the information she offers communicates your considerate and empathetic nature. Checking your phone every five minutes while craning your head to see the game score while she's speaking implies that you're disinterested in her and poorly mannered.

Treat all women equally. Holding the door for all women, not just the very attractive ones, implies that you take gentlemanly behavior seriously enough to be indiscriminate. A man who picks and chooses which women he treats well isn't a gentleman -- he's a player. Be considerate of her female friends and relatives and she'll appreciate the consistency of your character.

Remain calm, even when frustrated. A gentleman handles aggravating situations with aplomb, he does not scream, rant or curse service people, waiters or the guy giving him the evil eye at the bar. A cool head says you have enough manners and self awareness to resist lashing out or causing a scene.
