How to Post Flash Onto a Facebook Wall
Adobe Flash is an animation and application development program. Flash animations and movies are included on millions of Web pages. You can even post Adobe Flash movies to Facebook, but one caveat is that Facebook does not support Flash's Small Web Format, or SWF, files. Therefore, you must export the Flash movie as a standard digital video file, such as MP4 or QuickTime's MOV format. These formats don't support interactive features, such as buttons, and they don't support ActionScript programming, but the resulting linear content can be posted on a Facebook wall.

Export a Flash Movie to Digital Video
-
1
Open a Flash movie FLA file that you want to post to Facebook. Make sure the movie does not contain navigational buttons or other ActionScript features. These movies will not export to linear digital video. The export will fail.
-
2
Click the "File" menu and choose "Export." Choose "Export Movie." The Export Movie dialog box opens. From here, you can export the Flash movie to a digital video format.
-
-
3
Click the "Save as type" drop-down menu and choose "QuickTime (*.mov)." Several others options are offered on this drop-down but the QuickTime option allows you save the movie in MP4 format, which provides excellent compression and quality, and it is well supported on Facebook.
-
4
Click "Save." The "QuickTime Export Settings" dialog box opens. You can choose a file format and control several other parameters, such as frame width and height (the video's display size), and video and sound quality.
-
5
Click the "QuickTime Settings" button to open the "Movie Settings" dialog box. Several formatting options are available here. Most of the default settings are appropriate for Facebook video.
-
6
Click the "Settings" button in the "Video" section of Movie Settings. This opens the "Standard Video Compression Settings" dialog box. Most of the default settings in this dialog box work well for Facebook.
-
7
Click the "Compression Type" drop-down menu and choose "MPEG-4 Video," then click "OK." Flash defaults to a medium quality setting for MP4 video. You can improve the quality by adjusting the Quality slider, but keep in mind that the "High" and "Best" settings increase the file size substantially. The video file size limit on Facebook is 1024MB.
-
8
Click "OK" in the "Movie Settings" dialog box and then click "OK" in the "Export Movie" dialog box. Flash saves the movie with an MP4 extension.
Upload a Video to Facebook

-
11

-
12

-
13
Navigate to the video you want to upload, select it and then click "Open." Facebook begins uploading the video. While it is uploading, you can fill in the fields to title and describe your video. Tips & Warnings
Facebook allows only 2-minute videos until you verify your account. You can verify your account by clicking the "Verify Your Account" link on the "Create a New Video" page. This opens a "Confirm Your Phone" pop-up. Enter your cellphone number and click "Confirm." Facebook sends a text message to your phone with a confirmation code. Enter the code in the "Confirm Your Phone" pop-up and click "Confirm."
Facebook does not allow videos larger than 1024MB or longer than 20 minutes. If your video exceeds either of these, the upload and conversion will fail.
