Photography has been a popular pastime and a profitable profession for more than a century. And with the development of digital photography, it has become even easier for people to take tons of photos. Beyond taking their photos, it is often necessary to fix problems they might have. In the past, that would have been the province of a professional, but with the easy availability of photo editing applications like Photoshop CS5, anyone can fix photos, even when facing major flaws like a flare.

Instructions

    • 1

Load the photo onto your computer by scanning it in, but you will get better results by transferring directly from the digital camera.

    • 2

Start the Photoshop application. Select "File" from the menu and click "Open." In the dialog that appears, browse to and open the photo you loaded.

    • 3

Select the "Quick Selection" tool from the toolbar and select an area on the photograph that resembles the area you need to fix. Use the "Copy" and "Paste" function to duplicate the selection.

    • 4

Position the duplicated section over the flare you want to remove using the "Move" tool. Select "Layer" from the menu and choose "Merge Down."

    • 5

Select the "Clone Stamp" tool from the toolbar. Hold down the "ALT" key, and click on an area near the flare to get a reference point for the tool. Now use the tool to remove any seam between the duplicated section and the rest of the photo.
