How to Switch to New Windows Automatically in Mozilla Firefox

Like most browsers, Mozilla Firefox offers multiple ways for you to view Web pages. By default, Mozilla has opted to use the tab browsing feature as the standard way to view pages in Firefox. However, you can also use the more traditional browsing option of opening and viewing clicked links in a new window. In addition, you can configure the browser to open each link automatically in a new window. Configure this ability in the Mozilla Firefox Options menu.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a Run dialog. Do this by simultaneously pressing the "Windows" and "R" keys.

    • 2

Type "Firefox --preferences" and click "OK." This command opens a Firefox Options window.

    • 3

Click the "Tabs" button. This provides you with general tab and window-related options.

    • 4

Click to remove the check beside "Open new windows in a new tab instead" and click to place a check beside "When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately."

    • 5

Click the "OK" button. The next time you click a link, Firefox will automatically open the page in a new window.
