How to Hide the Back of Faces in Maya

When creating models in Maya, you probably struggle when choosing faces on the front-facing side, as it is difficult not to select the ones in the back. Fortunately, there is something you can do to reduce this problem. This involves hiding back-facing polygons so they cannot be accidentally selected when you are working. The process for hiding the faces is quick and easy.

Instructions

    • 1

Start the Maya application. Select "File" from the menu and choose "Open." In the dialog, browse to and open the model on which you are working.

    • 2

Select "Options" from the menu and choose "Display." From the options, choose "Normals" and "Backculling."

    • 3

Make your selections or edits to the forward faces, and you will see that nothing in the back is selected.
