How Do I Reply to NNTP Posts in Windows Mail?

The NNTP protocol defines the transmission processes for Usenet groups. You must have an NNTP host provider. Most Internet Service Providers provide you with an NNTP account. You set up the account in Windows Mail, so you can read Usenet posts and respond in the NNTP client software.

Instructions

    • 1

Click the Windows "Start" button and select "All Programs." Click "Windows Mail" to open the software.

    • 2

Click the "Tools" menu item, then click "Accounts." Click the "Newsgroup Account" option to start the wizard that sets up the NNTP account. Click "Next."

    • 3

Type the name you want to display when you post and click "Next." Type your email address in the next text box and click "Next." Type the name of the news server. The typical format for NNTP servers is "nntp.provider.com" where "provider.com" is your ISP's domain. Click "Next." Review the settings and click "Finish" to complete the account setup.
