How to Upgrade Ultimate Weapons in "Final Fantasy 13"
"Final Fantasy XIII" is part of the main series of a long-running roleplaying video game franchise developed by Square Enix. In the "Final Fantasy" series, you control a variety of characters in an attempt to save their two worlds from destruction. In "Final Fantasy XIII," the characters you will control are named Lightning, Snow, Vanille, Sazh, Hope and Fang; each one uses a unique style of weapon. By synthesizing materials at save points, characters can upgrade their weapons by using EXP (experience points). Each character has an ultimate weapon, whose power surpasses the rest of the character's weapons. Obtaining each such weapon requires that you synthesize another particular weapon using Trapezohedron, an extremely rare substance. While each character's weapons will all upgrade to the same ultimate weapon, the finished product for each one is slightly different, with one ultimate weapon having more strength than the others.

Obtain the materials necessary for upgrading your weapons. You will need Scaletite, Cobaltite, Perovskite, Uraninite and Trapezohedron, all of which can be obtained by completing side quests. Start a mission by touching one of the many Cie'th Stones scattered throughout the land, which will provide you with a goal. Cie'th Stones are easily recognized: they glow, and hover just above the ground. When you complete a mission, you will be awarded with a variety of items, including the materials listed above. The other option you have for obtaining these materials is to purchase them from the save station, which also acts as a conduit for a vast retail network. The materials can all be purchased for steep prices at a store in this retail network called "Motherlode." This retail network also houses the stores you will need to access in order to purchase the weapons you will need.

Purchase the sword Lionheart for Lightning from Plautus's Workshop toward the end of the game. Go to a save station and use the Upgrade function, synthesizing the weapon until it obtains 63,060 EXP. You will notice that the weapon's name now has a star after it. Synthesize the weapon with the material Scarletite to create a weapon called the Ultima Weapon. You must then max this weapon to its star level using 221,900 EXP. Once you have done so, synthesize the Ultima Weapon with a Trapezohedron to produce the Omega Weapon.

Get the Sacrificial Circle for Snow by purchasing it from Gilgamesh, Inc. This will take 84,024 EXP and a Scarletite to upgrade to the Indomitus; then upgrade this to Save the Queen by using 477,568 and a Trapezohedron.
-
4
Purchase the Tiger Claw staff for Vanille from Gilgamesh, Inc., as soon as Gilgamesh, Inc., becomes available as a shop. Upgrade the staff using 44,760 EXP and a Cobaltite to change it into Wyrmfang. Upgrade this weapon using 233,872 EXP and give it a Trapezohedron to change it into Nirvana, which can be maxed out with 1,864,368 EXP, allowing you to use it to get more Trapezohedron.
-
5
Purchase the Pleiades Hi-Powers from Gilgamesh, Inc., for Sazh. Max this set of guns with 33,000 EXP, and give it a Perovskite to change it into Hyades Magnums. This can be maxed out using 437,550 EXP; then give it a Trapezohedron to change it into the Total Eclipse.
-
6
Get the Simurgh for Hope from the Gilgamesh, Inc., store. 38,040 EXP along with a Uraninite will change this into the Tezcatilipoca. Upgrade this by giving it 154,752 EXP and a Trapezohedron.

7
Purchase the Taming Pole spear for Fang at Gilgamesh, Inc. Max it out using 54,800 EXP and give it a Uraninite, changing it into Venus Gospel. Maxing this out will take 334,656 EXP --- give it a Trapezohedron to change it into Kain's Lance. Max this out using 1,382,265 EXP to use it to get more Trapezohedron.

Use a simple shortcut to get more Trapezohedron. You receive only little Trapezohedron from story-related battles, so you'll need to get hold of more to upgrade everyone's weapons. Follow the instructions given previously for obtaining either Vanille or Fang's ultimate weapon, maxing it out to the star level and then dismantling it at the save/upgrade station. Each of those weapons takes around 2,000,000 EXP to max out completely, but each also only requires one Trapezohedron. However, dismantling these weapons will produce three Trapezohedrons.
