How to Cast off Using a Loom

A knitting loom is an easy way to knit garments such as hats, socks, scarfs and blanket panels. Blanket panels are made on any shape of loom but generally are single layers made on a long knitting loom, which is rectangular. Some large long looms are made in an organic pattern; the loom is curved to allow for very long blanket panels. Cast off using the same method no matter which knitting loom is used.

Instructions

    • 1

Finish the last row of the knitting loom project before casting off. E-wrap the first peg to the left of the horizontal peg.

    • 2

Pull the bottom loop over the top loop on the peg. Insert the loom hook in the completed stitch. Slide the stitch onto the loom hook.

    • 3

Pull the stitch from the peg and place it over the next peg to the left.

    • 4

Pull the bottom loop over the top loop. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 until the last stitch remains on the last peg.

    • 5

Cut the yarn approximately 3 inches from the end of the last stitch. Pull the end of the yarn through the loop. Pull tightly to form a knot.
