How to Design a Tumblr Theme

Tumblr is a free website that allows its users to create a feed of videos, text and music. Along with the feed, Tumblr allows its users to edit their theme, or the layout and appearance of their pages, by changing such things as the font style and background colors. You do not have to understand the Web programming language known as HTML to design your own Tumblr theme, because the appearance of your pages can be modified through a drop-down menu.

Instructions

1. Open Tumblr by visiting Tumblr.com through your Internet browser. Log in to your account.

2. Click the gear logo and then "Customize your blog." Click "Appearance" at the top of the next screen. This screen allows you to modify the default theme that was installed on your Tumblr pages when you created an account and give your pages a unique design.

3. Click the drop-down box beside "Accent font," "Body font" or "Title font." Select a new font style to change any of these options to one of the many fonts that Tumblr recognizes.

4. Click the background color square to change the color. If you want to display a background image instead of a color, click the "Upload" button beside "Background image." Select an image that you have saved on your computer's hard drive, and click "Upload."

5. Add a Header image to the top of your Tumblr page by clicking "Upload" beside "Header image." Choose an image from your computer, and click "Upload."

6. Click the "Save + Close" button in the top right corner of the screen to save your changes.
