How to Make Your Own Tumblr Layout

If you want to tweak your Tumblr page so that it does not look like the generic default layout, you are in luck: Tumblr comes with a set of appearance-editing tools. These tools help you turn your Tumblr layout into a design that expresses your individuality and personality. It only takes a few minutes to complete a Tumblr makeover, so your viewers will see the changes almost instantly.

Instructions

1. Open your web browser, and then open Tumblr by going to tumblr.com.

2. Sign in to your Tumblr account using your email address and password.

3. Click the logo that looks like a gear to open the Preferences page. Click "Customize your blog" to open the editing screen and then "Appearance" to open the appearance screen.

4. Click the square beside "Background color" to change the background to any color available on the selection screen.

5. Click one of the various font areas to open the drop-down menu of font styles. Select the desired font to set give your text a new look.

6. Upload an image from your computer to add to the top of Tumblr as a header image or behind the content as a background image. Click the "Upload" button beside "Header image" or "Background image." Find an image on your computer's hard drive, and click "Upload" to place it on your Tumblr page.

7. Click the "Save + Close" button to save your changes and close the Appearance page.
