Your Gamertag might have seemed cool back in the day, but if you are feeling it's a bit outdated, you can give yourself a new moniker through the Windows LIVE Guide. Changing your Gamertag costs 800 Microsoft points, so be sure you choose your new name wisely. Once you change your Gamertag, it's a good idea to inform your online friends of the change so they can invite you to their next game.

Press the "Home" key on your keyboard or the Xbox controller "Guide" button. This will launch the Windows LIVE Guide. Sign in with your account information when prompted.

Select your Gamertag to open your Gamer Profile. Click the "Edit Gamer Profile" button. Select "Gamertag."

Select "Change Gamertag." If you do not have sufficient Microsoft Points, you will be prompted to purchase more at this time.

Type your new Gamertag into the field provided. Your Gamertag must be 15 characters in length and must be unique from other existing Gamertags. Click "Submit" when finished.
