How to Close Off a Hemp Necklace

Trying weaving your hemp with different types of knots, colors of hemp, and shapes of beads.

Hemp comes from the plant Cannabis genus and is frequently made into jewelry. Finishing it requires a unique technique, as hemp jewelry does not work very well with traditional styles of clasps. Completing your hemp necklace with more than just a basic knot takes a little more time, but allows you to easily take it on and off. This also requires a little planning beforehand. Instead of cutting four strands, cut just two that are twice as long to complete your finishing technique.

Things You'll Need

  • Hemp necklace made from two folded strands
  • One extra strand of hemp

Instructions

    • 1

Fold your two strands of hemp in half before starting your necklace. This must be done up front in order to be able to properly finish it off.

    • 2

Tie your extra cord of hemp around the folded end of the necklace, creating a small loop out of the fold.

    • 3

Tie a knot at the other end, after completing your necklace. It should be just large enough to squeeze through the loop and hold your necklace together.
