How Can I Stop a Website Tab in Firefox From Continuously Reloading?

Some websites continuously reload their pages to ensure up-to-date information. Although this does indeed refresh the page with the latest news, it can be annoying when you're trying to read the posted information. Mozilla Firefox contains a feature to disable websites from reloading a Web page in your tab, which is accessed through the Options menu. However, disabling this website function will also prevent automatic updates on the page.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Mozilla Firefox and press the "Alt" key to expose the Menu bar.

    • 2

      Click "Tools" and select "Options."

    • 3

      Click the "Advanced" tab.

    • 4

      Click the "General" sub-tab.

    • 5

Check "Warn me when Web sites try to redirect or reload the page."

    • 6

Click "OK" to stop websites from reloading the page. When a website is prevented from reloading a page, a notice will appear at the top of the screen.

Tips & Warnings

  • To manually refresh the page after disabling automatic reloads, press the "F5" key.
