Cheat Engine is a software designed to cheat when playing video games by altering the information about the game that resides in the memory. Because of the rise of online gaming and its ability to measure player against player, game creators see cheating as a threat to their online community. Game creators started including protection software capable of detecting the use of Cheat Engine. To avoid detection, you will need to change the process name of Cheat Engine.

Go to the “Start” menu and click on “Computer.”

Go to “Local Disk (C:)” and then “Program Files (x86)” if you are on a 64-bit system or “Program Files” if you are on a 32-bit system.

Locate and double click on the “Cheat Engine” or Cheat Engine X.XX” where X.XX is the version number.

Select “Cheat Engine.exe,” press “F2” and rename it “CE.exe.”

Double click on “CE.exe” to launch Cheat Engine.

Tips

When renaming the file, you can use any file name you wish, but you need to make sure that the name ends with “.exe.”

Warnings

High-end games usually have systems capable for detecting Cheat Engine even after the process name change.
