How to Make a Large Spider Web Decoration
Hang large homemade spiderweb decorations in your house, from your porch or around your yard during Halloween to create a spooky atmosphere for children who are going trick-or-treating. Make these decorations using a skein of white or black yarn or a roll of clothesline rope to create the threads of the web. It is a simple craft that requires few materials and a lot of space. Once your spiderweb is hung, attach a fake spider for added effect.

1
Cut three lengths of yarn or clothesline rope, 2 to 4 yards in length using a pair of scissors. Lay the first piece vertically on a flat surface. Lay the second and third pieces across the the first piece at angles to create the spokes of the web. Position all three strings so that their centers cross in the middle.
-
2
Cut a 2- to 3-inch piece of string and wrap it around the centers of the crossing spokes. Tie the short string together in a knot and cut its ends as short as possible.

3
Find the end of the remaining yarn or clothesline rope. Attach it to the center of the spokes using a hot glue gun to glue it in place.
-
4
Begin winding the string in a clockwise manner around the spokes working your way outward as you go to create the inner webbing of the spiderweb. Spread each layer of webbing 2 to 3 inches from the previous layer.
-
5
Apply a dab of hot glue at each point where the string crosses a spoke. Press the string into the hot glue over the spoke to secure it in place. End the winding string at a spoke and glue it in place. Cut any excess string that reaches past the last spoke.

Tie, tape or glue the spoke ends to window frames, porch railings or tree branches to hang your web decoration. Stretch the spokes apart when hanging to make the web taught.
