How to Put My MSN Contact Groups From Online to Offline
The newest version of MSN Messenger, now Windows Live, allows you to quickly access different groups on your Friends List without having to scroll through the entire thing. A button on the screen allows you to select the group of friends you wish to view. Upon downloading the program, your online friends will appear at the top of screen. You must manually change this from online to offline friends if desired.

Log into your MSN Messenger account with your user name and password.

Click the arrow next to "Online" tab.

Select "Offline" or "Appear Offline to" to show your offline group of friends. At any time you can change the first group to appear on your friend list here.
